To say it is different is definitely an understatement!
The day I landed, it was cloudy and overcast. I was told that is pretty typical weather here. Having lived in Florida, where we are accustomed to plenty of sunshine, I decided to start praying for some sun. Thankfully, God seems to be listening! It may be chilly, but at least the sun is shining!
My apartment is only a 10 minute walk from the cafe`. After years of commuting long distances to work in the U.S., I decided I did not want to spend a large portion of my time commuting to the cafe. So, I am very happy with my little 10 minute walk.
My internal clock is still a little confused about what time zone we are supposed to be in, but I am sleeping a little longer each night. So, progress!
Tonight I start my Polish language classes. From what I have discovered so far, Polish is not exactly an easy language to learn. There are a lot of letters, sounds and words that seem to have absolutely no intention of cooperating with my English speaking brain!
My current goal is to learn enough Polish that when I go to the grocery store, I can actually communicate instead of just smiling, nodding and looking confused!
One week down! There is definitely a lot to learn and adjust to, but I am excited to be here and looking forward to seeing what God has in store.
